BT Bell Featured in New Civil Engineer: Landmark Progress on the £1bn Orkney Transmission Link & Finstown Project

We are proud to share that BT Bell’s ongoing structural and civil engineering work on the monumental £1bn Orkney transmission link project has been featured in the latest edition of New Civil Engineer.

Connecting Orkney to the UK Grid

The landmark Orkney Transmission Link project is a historic milestone, connecting the archipelago to the UK mainland network for the very first time. Designed to unlock up to 220MW of renewable electricity, this major infrastructure scheme integrates Orkney’s powerhouse wind and marine energy resources directly into the national grid.

At the center of the on-island development is the Finstown Substation project, where our team has been working closely on the complex civil engineering coordination required to deliver high-voltage infrastructure in a demanding island environment.
