Unilin Vielsalm Damaged Conveyor

BT Bell provided urgent conveyor structural repair design and assessment services for Unilin's manufacturing facility in Vielsalm, Belgium.

Specifically, our structural engineering team evaluated heavy damage to a primary material handling conveyor system. Furthermore, we developed emergency structural remediation solutions to restore safe operational capacity swiftly.

Engineering Assessment and Remediation Scope

Throughout the site investigation, inspecting damaged heavy industrial plant required detailed structural appraisal. Crucially, identifying structural weaknesses and load path failures is essential to ensure long-term stability.

Recently, key deliverables for the remediation project included:

  • Damage Assessment: Performing detailed structural inspections of distorted steel gantries and damaged support frames. Additionally, we analyzed load capacities under compromised conditions.

  • Emergency Repair Design: Engineering bespoke steelwork modifications and structural strengthening details. Also, our team specified temporary propping requirements to safeguard site personnel.

  • Reinstatement Planning: Collaborating closely with plant managers and mechanical contractors. Simultaneously, we developed a phased repair schedule to minimize factory downtime.

Delivering Rapid Industrial Solutions

Unexpected equipment failure in manufacturing facilities leads to significant operational disruption. However, BT Bell’s rapid response and practical engineering solutions ensured safe, efficient site recovery.

Because of this, the plant restored key conveyor operations without long-term structural risk. As a result, Unilin maintained production targets safely and efficiently. Ultimately, this project highlights our international capability in forensic engineering and emergency industrial repairs. In conclusion, BT Bell continues to support major manufacturing clients across the UK and overseas.
